The outdoor business is full of “bells and whistles” and superficial innovation, but once in a while we encounter new technology with the potential to change things from the ground. The Lykan Series is definitely one of them. The completely seamless one-piece knitted insulation garment delivers a whole new experience that takes both comfort and performance to a new level. The ultralight, stretchy material shapes itself around your movements and really feels like an extension of your body.

How does it work?
Women's Lykan Crew is knitted in one piece using a unique, textured yarn achieving an extremely soft, light and stretchy fabric with a fuzzy texture. Details like hems and collar are integrated into the garment instead of sewn on, raising both comfort and durability. The light, open and super soft material is ideal for high activity insulation. It has a level of breathability, warmth-to-weight ratio and comfort that traditional insulation garments simply cannot compete with. It is highly moisture wicking and can be worn both as a first layer next to skin or as a second, thermal layer. The open, lofty and airy structure provides great insulation when you wear a protective layer over it, and instantly allows excess heat and moisture out when you open up to ventilate.

This one-piece knitting produces next to zero waste as we don’t cut any fabrics and the recycled and recyclable polyester yarn allows a fully circular garment lifespan. Performance and sustainability innovation often go hand in hand.

When should I use it?
Women's Lykan Crew is perfect for high intensity activities in cold weather: Ski touring, hiking, running or other forms of outdoor training. The superior breathability will keep you warm without getting overheated and the one-piece, stretchy knit provides unhindered freedom of movement. The cuffs and collar feature a slightly thicker rib knit which provides a little bit of extra warmth just where you need it.

This garment is made with the future in mind using materials fit for recycling. Please return it to Houdini when it is eventually worn out and the raw materials can be used again. This way we reduce the need for virgin resources, decrease environmental impact and waste streams.

Synthetic materials

When washing clothes made of synthetic fabrics, the use of a washing bag becomes even more important: It prevents microplastics from entering into rivers and oceans.

• Air clothes instead of washing to save water, energy and to make the garments last longer.
• Use a washing bag to protect your garments and to prevent fibers from leaking. When cleaning the bag and filter in the machine, make sure to wipe it clean and throw the lint in your trash can. Never rinse it in water since we don’t want the fibers to end up in lakes or oceans.
• Machine wash, max 40 °C/104 °F.
• Use mild environmentally certified detergents and make sure to use the right dose.
• Avoid fabric softener. Besides being harmful for our environment, they have a negative impact on the garment performance, mainly moisture transportation and breathability.
• Tumble dry on low heat.
• Iron on low heat.

Recycled

The Recycled label means that this garment contains at least 50% recycled fibers (often more, see product description). The source is either recycled clothes or other sources like PET bottles. We mainly use recycled polyester, which has many benefits. It reduces both CO2 emissions and water use compared to virgin polyester. How much depends on the type of recycling. One of our suppliers show 32% less CO2 emissions and 94% less water use for mechanically recycled polyester. Besides the production impact, the major shift is using "waste" as raw material instead of crude oil.

Recyclable

The Recyclable label means that the raw material in this product can be used for new products, instead of becoming waste. Our goal is that by 2030, we will take no raw material to our products from the earth's crust. Circular products, made from reycled and recyclable materials are a real game changer, but we need your help for the system to work. When your Houdini garments are completely worn out, please return them to us. We have recycle units in all of our own stores and at many retailers.
