Made to Life.

Imagine garments that blur the lines between life, work and everything in between. Imagine a future where city and nature are one. Imagine a piece you wear for a wedding one day and take for a hike the next. Imagine clothes made to order. Imagine less waste. Better stuff. More life.

Meet Less. Made to life.

We have been taught that life requires all these clothes. Leaving the streets for the trails, you change your chinos for shells.  One jacket for running, the other for skiing. And then there is a seventh for just being. Each piece destined for one task, but not the other.

We have been taught that garments are fit for either work or life. Made for the city or for nature. There is fashion and there is function. We have been taught that clothes are ephemeral consumables. Contemporary attributes predestined to be replaced in the blink of an eye. What if we thought of clothes very differently.

Imagine garments that blur the lines between life, work and everything in between. Imagine a future where city and nature are one. Imagine a piece you wear for a wedding one day and take for a hike the next. Imagine clothes made to order. Imagine less waste. Better stuff. More life.

Made to order

Each year the textile industry produces more than 100 billion garments. Within one year, 60% of those billions are burned or piled upon monstrous mountains of landfill. That’s a truck load of textile waste every second. All day. Every day. This is obviously an unacceptable way of doing business, using natural resources and treating our planet. It is definitely not the way forward.

Ever since the start in 1993 Houdini has challenged the norms of the industry. We are on a journey, constantly pushing ourselves and our partners to create responsible alternatives for the future. When we are looking at the future of production, we see something very different than overproduction, fast fashion and warehouses overflowing with unwanted garments. What if we only produced garments that we knew someone actually wanted? What if every piece of clothing produced were desired, needed and loved. Were used.

Less is the next step on our journey towards a responsible future. In order to minimize waste, ensure supreme quality and make sure that every piece produced has a user waiting to wear it — Less Jacket and Pants are made to order. We are not yet making all Houdini products this way, and we probably won’t do so for some years. But, we are certain that this is the future. This is the way forward. Clothes Made to order, with a minimum of waste in every step of the production. Less is not the final solution, but it is a leap forward on our trajectory towards a regenerative future.
