Houdini wins the Innovation Award at NK-galan, a prestigious fashion award issued by Nordiska Kompaniet in Stockholm.
When Josef Sachs founded Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) in 1902 he had a clear vision: the great department store NK was to be a commercial and cultural theatre – a contemporary stage. The NK Innovation award is given to a brand or person who created new unexpected expressions beyond recognized structures, frameworks and approaches.
The jury’s motivation: ”The fashion industry’s biggest challenge today is to become sustainable. A brand that has understood this is Houdini: Instead of just talking about sustainability they have taken the next step and intergrated sustainability in their business model. By offering repairs in their stores and letting the customer rent garments instead of buying, this is a company that drives development forward and in time can be a part of changing consumption patterns in a sustainable direction.”

”To receive this award is very honoring, not least when reading the motivation and knowing that innovation is a true cornerstone here at Houdini. We are proud and grateful to all colleagues, partners and customers who keep pushes us forward every day. To be awarded by NK, which with integrity stands for quality and good design in a world of "wear and tear”, and by a jury who all inspire us, that makes you stop for a second and realize that what we are accomplishing here is actually quite cool. Thank you so much!”, says Eva Karlsson, CEO of Houdini Sportswear.
