Description
Downfree for women is a true Houdini classic used and loved by everything from mountain guides to cold water surfers. The combination of the clean, minimalist look together with high functionality makes it a real chameleon suitable for most occasions.
Down-free is made of Spinner Ripstop, a very light and durable fabric recycled polyester. The garment is lined with Primaloft® Gold, a synthetic padding that also consists of 100% recycled polyester. Primaloft® Gold has a similar weight-to-warmth ratio to down but does not absorb water, making it perform much better in wet conditions. The lining is soft, comfortable and very compressible. You easily pack your Dunfri into its own pocket. The garment is treated with a PFAS free water repellency treatment.
We use synthetic feed partly for its functional advantages, but also because we don't think any birds should get hurt in order to keep us warm when there are better alternatives.
Down-free is suitable for almost all adventures. Let it keep you warm on the summit tour, at the climbing rock, the tent tour or everyday.
When your Dunfri is completely worn out, we ask that you return it to Houdini for recycling. We have recycling units in all our own stores and at some retailers.

Care advice
Lined synthetic garments
Our lined garments consist of an outer fabric and an inner fabric, with insulating synthetic lining from Primaloft in between. There are many advantages to using Primaloft's synthetic lining, including not having to tumble dry the garment with balls to puff it up after washing. It dries faster than down and does not smell when wet.
- Air clothes instead of washing if the clothes are not too dirty. You save water, energy and make clothes last longer.
- Use a laundry bag. It is important when you wash synthetic clothes as it protects your garments and prevents microfibers from leaking out. When cleaning the bag and filter in the machine, make sure to wipe clean and dispose of lint in the bin. Never rinse the laundry bag with water as the fibers can then end up in lakes and oceans.
- Wash at a maximum of 40 degrees.
- Wash with mild environmentally certified detergents and be sure to use the correct dosage.
- Avoid fabric softener. In addition to being bad for the environment, it impairs the garment's performance, especially moisture transport and drying time.
- Hang dry, but add heat to the garment after washing so that the water-repellent surface of the outer fabric is reactivated. Use a heating cabinet, tumble dryer or iron, just make sure to keep an eye on the heat so the garment doesn't melt.

This product is completely circular, which means it is made from either recycled and recyclable or renewable and biodegradable materials. Most products in today's society are linear, where the earth's resources are extracted, used and then discarded. This does not work in the long run and causes enormous strain on the environment. Instead, we want to close the circle and reuse the materials we already have. But we need your help. When your Houdini products are completely worn out, return them to us through our recycling units located in all our own stores and many retailers.

The label recycled means that this garment contains at least 50% recycled fibers (often more, see product description). The source is either recycled clothing or other sources such as PET bottles. We mainly use recycled polyester, which has many advantages. It reduces both CO2 emissions and water use compared to virgin polyester. One of our suppliers shows that mechanically recycled polyester saves 32% CO2 and uses 94% less water. In addition to the footprint of production, the big difference is that we use "waste" as raw material instead of crude oil.
Recyclable
The label Recyclable means that the fabric in this product is completely recyclable. Instead of becoming waste, the material can be used to manufacture new products. Our goal is to take no material from the earth's crust into our products by 2030. Circular products, made from recycled and recyclable materials, is a big change but we need your help to make the system work. Return your Houdini garments to us when they are completely worn out. We have recycling units in all our own stores and at many retailers.
