Wash synthetic garments
Taking care of technical clothing is not difficult, and by washing and impregnating properly, you can significantly extend the life of your clothes.
1. Air clothes instead of washing them to save water, energy and to make the garments last longer.Use a laundry bag that protects your garments.
2. Use a washing bag to protect your garments and to prevent fibers from leaking. When cleaning the bag and filter in the machine, make sure to wipe it clean and throw the lint in your trash can. Never rinse it in water since we don’t want the fibers to end up in lakes or oceans.
3. Machine wash cold.
4. Use mild environmentally certified detergents and make sure to use the right dose.
5. Avoid fabric softener. It impairs the performance of that garment, especially moisture transport and drying time.

7. Do not dry in the tumble dryer. This exposes both the garment and the environment to unnecessary wear and tear. Most polyester garments dry quickly anyway.

Use the right detergent
There are several eco-labelled detergents and other cleaning agents that you can use to reduce the environmental impact when doing laundry. Swan-labeling and the Nature Conservation Association's Good Environment Choice are examples of two of these. Water and energy consumption when washing and drying in different machines is tested by the Consumer Agency and must be declared for the different devices sold on the market.
