Welcome to Romsdal Academy, a one-of-a-kind mini festival dedicated to the love of mountains and mountaineering. The short span when spring is about to turn summer is a special time to visit the Norwegian coastal mountain range and if you are a mountain sport enthusiast it’s nothing short of paradise. You can ski in the morning, climb in the afternoon and finish it off with a swim in the ocean.
Romsdal Academy is an event for people that want to learn more about mountaineering and alpine sports. Perhaps you are a good skier, but need to brush up on safety practice. Perhaps you are an indoor climber that wants to practice your moves on real rock. Perhaps you are just looking for a way to fit all your passions into one event.

- Mountain Medicine
Learn the most simple and important actions with limited equipment, in case of an accident in the mountains.
- Steep Skiing
Learn more about ski technique in steep terrain, safety and how to read the landscape to plan your ski line.
- Climbing Technique
Sign up for a rock climbing class among the beautiful local crags. Different levels depending on experience.
- Snow Safety
Learn more about avalanche safety including rescue techniques, route planning, snowpack analysis and equipment.
- Mountain Photography
Learn more about light, composition, equipment and develop your artistic skills in a combined theory and practice workshop.
- Alpine climbing
Join a certified mountain guide on an alpine climb. Learn to handle exposed terrain with the right gear and methods.
You will build your own festival program by picking the workshops you are interested in. The workshops are full days outside.
Romsdalen and Romsdal Lodge
Welcome to the Chamonix of Scandinavia. Romsdalen lies where mountains meet the ocean in middle Norway. Home of numerous alpine trail blazers and soaked in mountain culture, this place has both beauty and adventure to satisfy the most jaded adventurers. In the middle of all this lies the Romsdal Lodge, where our old time friends Bjørn and Ida welcome their guests all year around. Comfy beds, wood fired sauna and good times are always on the menu.
