2011 was the year Houdini Re-use launched in selected stores in Sweden. The initiative came from a need among users to buy and sell their vintage Houdini gear as an effort to extend the lifetime of these products. Houdini clothes are made to last, both in terms of quality and style and besides designing the best possible products, we always want to find additional ways of extending the lifetime of our clothes. Our second-hand service let our customers buy and sell used Houdini garments, extending the lifetime and reducing the overall environmental impact by lowering the need for new garments. It’s also a great way for our customers to find unique pieces or give new life to unused garments. Welcome to the world of Houdini Reuse!

How do I sell garments?
1. Bring your Houdini garments to one of our stores. Find them through our store locator. We only accept washed Houdini garments in very good condition.
2. In exchange, you get a Houdini gift card up to SEK 1000 (NOK 1000 / €100 / $100) that can be used in our stores for new garments or other Reuse garments. If you don’t need anything new right away, you can keep the gift card for up to 10 years or give it to someone that deserves a treat.

Can I return a garment if it doesn’t fit?
Yes, you have a 30 days full return policy. See the return policy here.
Do you offer any guarantees?
Yes, we have the same product lifetime guarantee for our reuse garments as our regular collection. See our guarantee here.
I have a functional garment but not in “very good” condition. Can I sell it to you?
No. We have noticed that our customers expect our Reuse garments to be in almost mint condition. Other platforms for peer-to-peer second hand sales are usually a better place to sell more heavily used garments and we highly recommend you to try one of them. As long as unused garments get a new life, we’re happy!
Can you repair a broken garment and sell it for me?
We have a repair service, but for the moment we don’t accept broken garments in our Reuse service. We are working on it going forward.
Can I buy other Reuse garments with my gift card?
Yes, but currently only in our physical stores. The gift cards are currently not compatible with our digital store. Hopefully they will be in a not-so-distant future.
But I can get a much higher price for my used garment if I sell it myself?
Yes, that is usually the case and we encourage you to sell your garment wherever you prefer, as long as your unused garment gets a new life. What we offer is a smooth and carefree way to buy and sell Houdini garments, where you are relieved of the work of buying and selling peer-to-peer.
Why do I only get a gift card and not money when I sell my garment?
At this moment, we don’t have the administrative systems to handle that type of transaction. This might change in the future, but we did not want it standing in the way of launching our Reuse service. If you prefer cash instead of a Houdini gift card, you will have to sell your garment through other services.
Are you doing this as a sustainability effort or just to make money?
Both! To transition the clothing business from a harmful industry into a sustainable one, everything we do has to make business sense in the long run. That’s the only way we can change this industry for the future and we take great pride in making our business long term sustainable in a both ecological, social and economic way.
