New Houdini Hub Täby Centrum

New Houdini Hub Täby Centrum

Shop second-hand garments or try on and buy selected pieces from our current collection in our newly designed Houdini Hub in Täby, just outside of Stockholm.

Spring 2018 started off right: After months of planning and building, we reopened our Houdini Hub in Täby Centrum. Inspired by our Oslo location designed in collaboration with Snøhetta, the Houdini team set out to create a light, breathable space in which Houdini’s ReUse line takes center stage.

Each of our Houdini Hubs are slightly different, but what they all have in common is that they are so much more than just a store. The long wooden table and coffee machine in our Åre Hub provides the perfect backdrop for an after-ski fika and in Göteborg we have a little bike station and city garden outside the shop. Additionally, all of our shops regularly host Houdini Hangouts. In Täby, we decided to focus on our ReUse line: Houdini’s collection of second-hand garments.

Houdini RePrograms: Minimise impact, maximise experience

Our mission is to become a company that doesn’t simply minimise negative impact, but generates positive impact: ‘We're constantly working to develop our services in order to reduce the environmental footprint of our products.’ Calle Andersson, our ever-smiling colleague managing the Täby hub, explains: ‘These services include Rental, ReUse, Repair and Recycle. We are used to buying new products in order to use them, but with our RePrograms, we aim to show and inspire people that you don’t necessarily need to own or buy something in order to use it. The environmental benefit of this argument is usually pretty clear, but it’s easy to forget about some of the other advantages: For example, renting a shell layer for your yearly skitrip might prove a lot cheaper than buying a new one. And repairing a broken zipper or ripped pocket is just as easy, if not easier than replacing the entire garment: All you have to do is hand it in at a Houdini Hub or reach out to our Repair Center: We will fix it for you and send it back to you as good as new.’ The third way of minimising our impact, both on the environment as well as on your wallet, is by selling second-hand Houdini products.

A new way forward

‘One of our goals is that our services will stand for 10% of our turnover by the year 2022’, Calle continues. ‘The new concept store in Täby is part of this strategy and it's a great way to show everyone how important these concepts are to Houdini. The store is divided into two parts: One half focuses on the ReUse line, with the biggest collection of ReUse garments amongst all of our locations. The other half operates as a showroom for the current collection. Having carefully selected a small range of garments to be on display here, we’re able to give our new products the space we believe they deserve. We put so much time and energy into designing and creating these garments - it feels only right to let them have their moment of fame before they join the rest of the Houdini product family as timeless, versatile pieces that will last you for many years.’ These products will be in limited stock at this location, but in case we run out of them before you got a chance to get your hands on it, we are happy to order the garment for you on the spot: Have the garment delivered to our Täby Hub, any other Houdini Hub or to your very own doorstep.

Help us achieve our goals

With its big focus on RePrograms, it is fair to say this hub wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for your input: If you have any worn-out Houdini garments you don’t wear anymore, please pop by and hand them in for recycling or reselling! You can read more about the reselling policy here. Got a Houdini favorite that needs some fixing but can still be used a little longer? Our Täby hub comes to the rescue here as well: Drop it off in store and we will forward it to our repair center. Houdini garments can be handed in for recycling and repair at any of our Houdini Hubs – find your nearest one here. Can’t find a Houdini Hub near you? Reach out to our Repair Center yourself through repaircenter@houdinisportswear.com or 08-557 746 96.

See you soon in Täby – Calle will welcome you with open arms!

Microplastics - what we do and how you can help

Microplastics are damaging marine eco-systems. The need for a solution is urgent, and the textile industry is part of the problem. Therefore, Houdini see it as our responsibility to both inform end users on how to treat the situation, as well as to work hard to find a solution from a production point of view. This our take on microplastics.
