David Kvart

David Kvart is the filmmaker and photographer who loves bad weather and a good story.

David Kvart is the adventure-filmmaker who wants to spread his love for the outdoors and the mountains around him.

"It's actually quite mad that we live life sitting indoors longing for the outdoors, when it should be the opposite. We should be outdoors wanting to occasionally head inside. It humbles you to be in the outdoors and on mountains, learning to adapt and to take care of yourself. And I just love sitting someplace waiting for hours for that perfect shot, just observing, that's unbeatable."

David travels the world to film and produce content from adventurous places. He has won the Best Short film award in the Banff Mountain Film Festival, created one of the seven best formats within the European Broadcast Union, and participated as one of the first Swedes at the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour.

Q&A

– If you could get one day of shooting with anyone you like, who would it be?
”I would like to have joined Christopher McCandless, aka Alex Supertramp, the guy Jon Krakauer's book "Into the Wild" is all about. ”
– And where?
”At bus 142 there in Alaska, where he stayed. ”
– Any places you haven’t been that you’d still like to go?
”I'd like to go to Alaska and just go nuts with scenery shots. ”
– What's your Magic Moment?
”My magic moment is usually when the weather is so bad that it looks like there's no reason to go outside to film anything, but you still pull it off and go out there, and then the sky opens. That's usually magic with bad and good weather at the same time, and sun. You really need the sun most of times in the outdoors, specially while filming skiing. ”
– What's your favourite YouTube clip?
”My favourite youtube clip is actually the old commercial for John West Salmon, where a fisherman fights with a bear at the river mouth for a salmon and kicks his balls. Gets me every time. Search that. ”
– What do you think would make the world a bit better?
”If everyone got a little more time spent in the outdoors they'd spend less time being troubled by everyday silly matters. The world would be a friendlier place if more people learned how to take care of themselves really. ”
